Building Compassionate Communities
The numbers of Canadians living with Alzheimer’s Disease and other types of dementia are growing. In response, Nav CARE, Better at Home and Columbia Seniors Wellness Society have teamed up to develop supports for folks living with dementia, their families and caregivers in the Greater Trail region.
This spring, we will be training volunteers in a free Internationally acclaimed Nav-CARE training program designed to support people living with dementia, their caregivers, family, and friends. Specially trained volunteer navigators help persons living with dementia and their families access resources and services in their community, while providing companionship and emotional support. Most of the Nav CARE training is delivered online so volunteers can learn at their own pace in their home. If you can volunteer two to four hours per month and want to help people living with dementia in your community, please contact us to register for Nav CARE Dementia training.
