This October, Community on Stage brings the heartbreaking and inspirational Tony Award-winning musical, Man of La Mancha, to The Cambridge Arts Theatre.
Man of La Mancha is one of the world’s most popular musicals. Inspired by Miguel de Cervantes’ 17th-century masterwork Don Quixote and set during the Spanish Inquisition, the original 1965 production won five Tony Awards, including Best Musical.
Cervantes is in prison awaiting trial during the Spanish Inquisition. He and his fellow prisoners perform a play-within-a-play, telling the story of the elderly Alonso Quijana, who renames himself “Don Quixote” and goes on a quest to right all wrongs in the world. The rousing, Spanish-inflected score includes the classic numbers “The Impossible Dream,” “I, Don Quixote,” “Dulcinea,” “I Really Like Him” and “Little Bird.”
Community on Stage (COS) is a local, volunteer based, not for profit musical theatre company that offers local talent opportunities both on and off the stage, with a focus on giving back to the community.
COS has connected with the Alzheimer Society of Waterloo Wellington for Man of La Mancha, and 5% of each ticket sold will go towards helping those affected by dementia. Tickets are $35 for Adults and $30 for Seniors.
Man of La Mancha, written by Dale Wasserman with music By Mitch Leigh and lyrics by Joe Darion, runs October 4th through 12th at the Cambridge Arts Theatre, located at 47 Water St S in Galt. Not recommended to younger audiences.
